The International Anesthesia Research Society (IARS) is anesthesiology's non-political organization focused on providing scientific and evidence-based safe anesthesia care. An IARS membership provides access to a community committed to enhancing anesthesia research and education, and improving patient care.

Learn about the latest advances in research and the best practices in anesthesia clinical care through the society’s journals Anesthesia & Analgesia and A&A Case Reports and the IARS Annual Meeting. Take advantage of a free CME Program and earn credits through our Online Education Portal and courses, or apply for a grant through our Awards and Grants Program. IARS has funded more than 175 projects, contributing more than $14 million to anesthesia research since the onset of the program in 1983.

The IARS sponsors the SmartTots initiative in partnership with the FDA and works with multiple stakeholders to address scientific and clinical gaps regarding the safe use of anesthetics and sedatives in children. Research funded through SmartTots investigates multiple aspects of existing anesthetics and their administration, including dosage and exposure.

IARS provides its members the tools and resources you need to stay in the forefront of anesthesiology. Join IARS and your colleagues in the commitment to advance the specialty; become a member today!
