Abstract Awards at the IARS, AUA and SOCCA 2018 Annual Meetings

IARS Abstract Awards

Kosaka Best of Meeting Abstract Awards Session:
The Kosaka Best of Meeting Abstract Awards Session is supported by the Japan Society for Clinical Anesthesia (JSCA) and the International Anesthesia Research Society (IARS).

During this two-hour session, the top 30 abstract authors in Clinical Research, Basic Science, and Scholar Abstract categories will display their poster. The top three finalists in each abstract category will also present their original abstract orally and compete for the top award in their category and a $500 prize each.

  • The top 30 abstract finalists will each receive a $50 award to be provided during the session.
  • The top three finalists in each abstract category (Clinical Research, Basic Science, and Scholars) will present orally.
  • Each top finalist will present for 5 minutes orally with 2 minutes each for Q&A.
  • The panel of judges will select one winner in each category to be awarded a $500 prize each at the end of the session.

AUA Abstract Awards

Margaret Wood Resident Research Award:
The $1,000 Margaret Wood Resident Research Award will be presented to the author of the best research paper submitted by a resident or fellow and will be selected for an oral presentation at the Scientific Advisory Board (SAB) sessions.

Resident Travel Awards:
Two Resident Travel Awards will be awarded to the top scoring resident abstracts, including a $1,000 travel award for each winner, judged by the SAB and chosen for oral presentation at the SAB sessions.

Junior Faculty Travel Awards in Pediatric Anesthesia or Perioperative Medicine:
Two $500 Junior Faculty Travel Awards in the specific area of pediatric anesthesia or perioperative medicine, emphasizing the work of academic anesthesiologists at the beginning of their careers, will be chosen for oral presentation at the SAB sessions.

Junior Faculty Research Awards:
Two Junior Faculty Research Awards, emphasizing the work of academic anesthesiologists at the beginning of their careers, will be chosen for oral presentation at the SAB sessions.

SOCCA Abstract Awards

Young Investigator Award:
This award is presented annually to the individual whose research exemplifies the Society’s mission to educate anesthesiologists in the care of critically ill patients and to foster the knowledge and practice of critical care medicine by anesthesiologists.
