International Anesthesia Research Society
The International Anesthesia Research Society (IARS), owner and publisher of ANESTHESIA & ANALGESIA, is an apolitical not-for-profit medical society founded in 1922 "to foster progress and research in all phases of anesthesia." The IARS has a world-wide membership of 15,000 physicians and others with doctoral degrees, and other health professionals in anesthesia-related practice.
The IARS is completely nonpolitical, focused only on the advancement and support of education and scientific research related to anesthesiology.
The current IARS Mission Statement is: "The goal of the IARS CME activities is to disseminate current, state-of-the art basic and clinical research data, as well as the newest advances in all areas of clinical anesthesia care, including perioperative medicine, critical care, and pain management. In addition, the IARS mission is to encourage, stimulate, and fund ongoing anesthesia-related research and projects that will enhance and advance the specialty.
The target audience is comprised of individuals worldwide who are engaged in all aspects of anesthesiology: physicians in clinical practice of anesthesia; physicians in academia; physicians or PhD's engaged in research; physician residents in training programs; individuals in the allied health professions.
To fulfill the stated mission the Society publishes a monthly scientific journal, ANESTHESIA & ANALGESIA; sponsors an annual clinical and scientific congress; funds anesthesia-related research; and sponsors the Global Perioperative Research Organization (GPRO).
The expected outcome of the IARS CME program is more knowledgeable and informed participants, provided with current knowledge in clinical care and research, applicable to their clinical practice."
